Welcome To The Parent Practice

Being a parent is the most important job you'll ever do. Have you had much training for it?

Would you like life at home to be calmer?

Are you sometimes at a loss to know how to respond to your children's behaviour?

Would you like your children to have more confidence in themselves?

Would you like to learn parent-tested techniques, skills and solutions for getting children to bed without a fuss, leaving the house on time, having pleasant mealtimes, getting homework done with cooperation and many more..?

The Parent Practice is an organisation that is committed to helping parents transform their family life.  We all know that raising children can be stressful and challenging and we're here to help make it more positive and rewarding. We have courses, books and CD's available. We provide practical advice, tips and skills you can learn quickly and use throughout your child-rearing years. We help parents feel in charge in a positive way and we show you how to help your children be more confident and cooperative. All our  techniques are field-tested by our facilitators and our parents and we know they work!

"Doing a course with The Parent Practice is the single best thing that I have done for my children, and my children would agree! It has also become the total highlight of my week"  Emma Freud, mother of four.

What typically brings parents to us:

Many parents who come have no particular concerns about  their children but would just like to feel more confident, competent and positive in their parenting and would like to learn some new skills. Some come because:

  • They would like to help their children to be more confident and really believe in themselves, to be more helpful and co-operative and to do more for themselves.
  • They would like their children to be more appreciative, considerate and to communicate better.
  • They want solutions for the 'hot-spot' areas like bedtimes, mealtimes, homework, mornings, travelling.
  • They find they get stressed and frustrated and frequently resort to shouting, nagging or threatening to get their children to co-operate, leaving them feeling guilty.

  • Their children are experiencing difficulties at school of either an academic or social nature.
  • They want to deal more constructively with temper tantrums, emotional outbursts and rudeness.

How you could get support:
If you are based in London then we have a variety of different courses mostly held in south west London.  We can also come to your home or we can come and talk at your school.
